BackTrack 3 final on USB thumb drive How to make – Tutorial Guide
1- You need a Windows based PC to work with this tutorial.
2- You need to work with elevated privileges if you are working from Windows Vista or 7 environment “Run as administrator”.
3- You need a minimum 2 GB clean USB 2.0 or better thumb drive.
4- You need to download the final edition of BackTrack 3 (694 MB) from HERE to your desktop and Extract the Iso image with Ultra Iso to a folder onto the desktop.
5- Download the following files from HERE and Extract them with WinRar to separate folders onto your desktop:
- boot-files.rar
- GRUB4DOS.rar
- USB_FORMAT.rar
6- Open folder [ bt3-final ], you will see 2 folders, move the [ boot ] folder inside the [BT3] folder:
- The BT3 folder now should result as the picture below:
7- Open folder [USB_FORMAT] and right click on usb_disk_storage_format.exe and choose to “Run as administrator “if you are working from Windows Vista or 7, and follow this:
8- Open folder [GRUB4DOS] and right click on Grub4Dos Installer 1.1.exe and choose to “Run as administrator” if you are working from Windows Vista or 7, and follow this:
9- Open folder [boot-files] and copy the 2 files you find inside(grldr + menu.lst) copy them to your USB thumb drive:
10- Now move folder BT3 that you prepared in step 6 above, move it to the USB thumb drive, the result in the USB should look like this:
11- Now the USB thumb drive is ready to be booted and tested.
